Position: Assistant Editor
Location: Eklavya, Bhopal office
About Srote Features:
Srote is a weekly feature service on topics in science and technology for newspapers and magazines. It is managed by the non-government organization Eklavya. Since its inception in November 1989, it has consistently provided good-quality, authentic material to Hindi newspapers every week in a language that is easily understood by the general reader. Must-haves:
- Willingness to read and write articles on popular science and scientific research
- Spoken and written fluency in both Hindi & English is preferable.
- Comfortable in using InDesign, MS word, Canva, Photoshop.
- A graduate or post-graduate degree in any discipline of science.
Key responsibilities:
- Writing snippets/articles of science advancement, and science related ideas in Hindi
- Proofreading, copy-editing, and ensuring compliance with the stylesheet
- Updating and maintaining newspaper email databases
- Handle the layout and design of monthly magazine
- Looking for and finalising complimentary images/visuals for articles
- Translating article and news pieces from English to Hindi
- Assistance in translation-related work (coordinating with translators, preparing vouchers etc)
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as coordination with authors, translators and payment follow-ups.
- Ideating and assisting with social media strategies for content promotion
- Any other institutional responsibility as required
- Support the team lead in proposal development, mapping grant supports for Srote
- Contribute in developing and executing promotional and outreach strategies for Srote
Experience : Minimum 1 year of experience in the field of publications/science journalism.
Salary: ₹26,000-30,000/- per month*
*Kindly note that the mentioned amount is the cost to the organization. (The salary bracket mentioned above will involve deductions towards gratuity, medical insurance, employee provident fund etc).
(Final remuneration will depend upon the candidate’s experience and relevance of their skills with that of the profile).
