Eklavya Foundation is looking for enthusiastic and hard working science graduates/post graduates for a new project: "Science- a way of life" which focuses on learning science by hands-on experience in Ashram Shalas in collaboration with Tribal Development Department, Government of Maharashtra.

Cluster town/village in Nasik Region.

Work geography – A cluster of about 08 Ashram Shala within the district.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Visit each Ashram Shala in the cluster twice every month, for one full day.
  • Onsite academic support to Science Teachers in Ashram Shalas through fortnightly planning and review with them.
  • Take sessions/classes with middle school students along with the science teacher
  • Liaison with the Ashram Shala Principal and administration towards making the school environment conducive for hands-on experiential learning at middle school level.
  • Ensure that material given for hands-on experiments is accessible to teachers and students for daily use. And that school lab is also accessible to teachers.
  • Ensure that science library/corner in the Ashram Shala is functional. Also, related posters etc have been displayed well.
  • Active facilitation in activities at cluster level, especially in monthly meetings, along with resource teachers and other local resource persons.
  • Documentation, reporting and programme related admin work.
  • Facilitation to and strengthening of School Management Committees.
  • Capacity building of Self and the Ashram shala Science teacher
  • On-site and off-site support to the project as and when required.

Minimum qualification:

  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Science or Engineering.
  • In addition, a D.Ed. or D.El.Ed would be preferable.
  • Some Experience will be preferred, but not mandatory.
  • For equivalent candidates, applications from women, persons from under-served caste, tribe, minority background and differently abled persons will be preferred.  

Other required skills and aptitudes:

  • Enthusiastic and ready to learn; work for systemic change in public education system for ensuring delivery of quality education up to the most under-served child.
  • Zeal to take on challenges; willingness to stay and work in a small town / village.
  • Proficiency in Marathi and Hindi (reading, writing & speaking). Familiarity with English will be preferred.
  • Creative mind.
  • Capable to ride two-wheeler.
  • Computer literate – word processing, excel sheet. Online tools
  • Flexible in working time and tasks.

Remuneration: Rs 15,000 to Rs 15,500 (CTO - Rs 17,000). Actual salary will be based on the qualifications, experience, initiative taking capabilities and other necessary skill sets.

Contract Period: Initially for 1 year. This can be extended after review.
